Yoga Nidra – a Meditation on Deep Rest - Celeste Mallett Jason

Yoga Nidra is a meditative spiritual practice.  It is not an exercise class.

Yoga Nidra translates as Yogic Sleep facilitating a deep state of relaxation which is achieved consciously.     During the practice of Yoga Nidra, one appears to be asleep, but the consciousness is functioning at a deeper level. In this threshold between sleep and wakefulness, contact with the subconscious and unconscious realms occur spontaneously.   It is offered as a guided visualisation meditation, in which participants are encouraged to turn their attention inward, away from outer experiences.  The time is given for each participant to stay with their own experience, which allows for personal insight to arise.  

Yoga Nidra is practiced from comfortable supportive chairs.

Celeste Jason, originally from South Africa, has lost count of how many years she has been teaching Yoga. She holds certificates in a number of disciplines but has formed her own interpretation of practice and the application to an ever-changing reality. Her background in Meditation and  Tai Chi, Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Sivananda Yoga methods, as well as the rigours of Life and the Natural World, inform her teaching.  She has expertise in all levels of experience and has specialised in Yoga for Beginners, Yoga for Meditators, Restorative Yoga, Chair Yoga and Yoga Nidra.  Salt Spring Island has been her home for 30years.
