A workshop for all bodies. How might the body move if we invited it to be an instrument for prayer? This  is the question this inter-faith, inter-denominational workshop proposes. Using gentle, movement-based exercises and prayerful focus, we will explore dance as a way to express devotion, to receive and offer healing, to experience deep and abiding joy, and to otherwise deepen our connection to ourselves, each other, to creation, and to the God of our understanding.

To participate in this workshop, there is no need to have a background in dance, nor to be fit, young, or free of injury. All bodies are welcome as-is. Whether we offer our skill and fitness, or our awkwardness and fatigue, we can all participate in finding and expressing the dance revealed in each sacred moment.

Kristen has been dancing since her youth, taught dance for children in the hall at All Saint’s church from 2012 to 2017. She currently has a committed dance teaching practice for adults, in which she invites students of all ability levels to discover their own sacred relationship to dance, and to learn to celebrate the body, with all its difficulties and paradoxical demands, as a holy vessel.

Participation is by Donation (suggested donation of $25 to $30) which will be shared between the presenter and Star of the Sea.  Donations may be made at the event or as outlined on Star of the Sea's website homepage
